7 Quick Takes: Date Night in Hong Kong

Date night has been converted to date morning since we arrived in Hong Kong. Partly because we are so jolly tired by the end of the day, but also, because finding a babysitter is a little more tricky when family lives so far away.

It quite quickly became a tradition to go for a walk up the Peak together on a Friday morning. The first couple of times it was a one sided conversation on the way up as I was too breathless to speak, but I have showed some great improvement in my fitness levels in the last few months ;) Sometimes we end the hike with a coffee (or probably more likely a Matcha) up top. And it's so good.

The long holidays took away our free Friday mornings together and so it had been a while since Kev and I had quality uninterrupted time together. Last week we decided it was time. The last two weeks haven't been our easiest. We have been stretched, aware of our own limited capacity and weighed down somewhat. So we raised the white flag and made it happen and this is how date night in Hong Kong went down...

1/ Call on amazing, young, high-schooler friend who loves your kids and repeatedly thanks you for asking her to babysit. Oh, thank you Jesus for gifts like her!

2/ Spend too many minutes on 'Eatigo' app scanning for the best spot to eat at. Do we feel like Thai or Vietnamese? French or Tiurkish? Japanese or Chinese? Seriously, Eatigo is the greatest invention ever. Think Entertainer but better. Free app - discounts on all food. Yes please!

3/ Dress up a little more than running to fetch the kids from school. Maybe a little lipstick. Why not?

4/ Jump in minibus and hold hands.

5/ Take photos of pretty spots en-route.

6/ Arrive at restaurant, ‘ooh and aah’ at the unexpectedly great vibe, views and food.

7/ Order, eat, drink, share hearts, decline dessert and then change mind and order dessert. Marvel at how many people are out on a Saturday night when you're usually in your PJ’s at home washing the dishes. Decide that this needs to happen more often.

Friday morning Peak walk and Saturday date night can? Or cannot?
