7 (Super) Quick Takes: How life has already changed

1/     I use lifts, all by myself, up many many floors. Very happily. That is seriously an answer to prayer. I love how God had to send me to Hong Kong to overcome that one.

2/     We are ‘gooi-ing’ Cantonese. We know the four essentials which are helpful when riding in taxis or mini buses. Our repertoire includes our road name and number, how to tell the taxi/mini bus driver to stop, and 'thank you'. Look at us.

3/     We have lost Sierra and in her place we have an American daughter. She has an accent and doesn’t even realise it. That was quick.

4/     The most dangerous situation you can find yourself in, is meeting a wild boar on its morning walk, when your'e trying to catch a taxi to school.

5/     There just isn’t as much time in the day and there's no such thing as 'popping out quickly'. I am going to have to learn that achieving just one task in the morning while Shiloh is at school, is okay.

6/     Greek yoghurt and muesli are luxuries, costing close to R100 each. And that’s not the big size!

7/     Kitchens are not a social place to hang out. They're very practical. If you're not cooking the meal or washing the dishes (oh how I miss a dishwasher!) there is no space for you. If Kev, myself and the girls stand arms touching tight, side by side, we will span the length of the kitchen. And that’s not because we have been eating too much fried rice and egg tarts.

Foodie post to follow soon.

Good night!
